Budget Airlines – Good or Bad?

Posted on December 27, 2015 at 10:40 pm

The world has opened up, they said when flying became slightly more usual. People were beginning to fly and travel all over the world; seeing sights they never thought possible, meeting people they never imagined. Stories began to come home about the amazing and incredible things that exist in the world. One thing, however, was changing; people were building companies to take people of lesser incomes to the farthest reaches of beautiful planet earth.

Travel was no longer for the super rich; the elite and the superstars of the world. Flying was becoming mainstream; and people were taking the opportunity to fly the seven seas, see the Great Wall, float in the Dead Sea and sail down the Nile. These were no longer the stuff that dreams were made of, but the stuff of reality for normal people on lesser incomes. There were downsides of course, but we can talk about those another day, there’s a lot to list!

Posted on November 28, 2015 at 8:15 pm

The Highlands is home to a variety castles whisky taverns, ancient monuments and stunning mountain ranges, making it the perfect place to visit if you love the outdoors. You’ll certainly be in for a hiking adventure if you visit the Lochaber area of the Scottish Highlands.

You can take mountaineering courses, on rock climbing, visit the lakes and perhaps even camp out amongst the wild, or stay in a luxury log cabin. Many landscape photographers and nature enthusiasts visit the highlands each year, and whether you decide to go when the mountain range is topped with snow, or when the weather is crisp and dry, you’ll always be guaranteed an action packed adventure.

Why not take on Ben Nevis, like many people do every year. You really do feel a real sense of achievement when you make it to the top, and it’s something you can tick off your bucket list.

Traffic news

Posted on October 31, 2015 at 12:09 am

Some people like to travel, others find it boring, nerve-racking and stressful. After carrying out a survey with drivers we found that the worse thing about driving was traffic. Traffic can cause chaos on the roads and often contributes to accidents.

When planning a journey, have a look at the usual traffic for that time of day. Google maps will show you travel time and travel time in current traffic conditions. Obviously traffic can vary from one day to the next but you may find a particular time or times of the day to avoid.

Many of the slightly more expensive sat navs have traffic updates built in to them, so as you are driving they will update your route according to the traffic ahead. This can save precious time especially if there is a long delay ahead of you. Other sat navs will not automatically re-route you but will advise you of traffic ahead, allowing you time to take a diversion.

Sight-seeing holiday

Posted on September 30, 2015 at 8:22 pm

If you truly want to explore a new area then you could look at booking a tailor made sightseeing holiday trip. Many popular destinations offer this as a package and allow you to pick a number of local attractions or points of interest to visit during your stay.

Although many holiday resorts will offer trips to these locations which can be booked when you are there, you can usually save money on booking a number of activities in advance through your tour operator at the time of booking the holiday.

Often you will find people selling these types of trips on the street local to your resort. These trips are usually organised by a local company or individual and although the price you pay is often cheaper than booking through a tour operator, there is little come back should you not be able to go or the trip gets cancelled.

Different types of holiday accommodation

Posted on August 31, 2015 at 9:31 pm

When booking a holiday you will need to consider the different types of accommodation that you may wish to stay in. There are many different accommodation choices such as camping, B and B, Hotels or private lodges, all with their advantages and disadvantages.

If you are going abroad then you will probably be staying in a hotel or villa. A hotel is a complex that has many rooms within one or more buildings. A villa is a more private setting similar to renting a house where you may have your own garden or even swimming pool.

Some hotels offer a number of accommodation types such as self-catering, half board or all inclusive. Self-catering is when you only pay for a room and facilities, half board usually includes breakfast and evening meal and all inclusive includes all your meals plus drinks (although these are sometimes restricted to house spirits and wines).
