Health Advice for Travelling to Thailand

Posted on October 19, 2016 at 9:16 am

There are excellent private hospitals in Thailand but they can be very expensive depending on location. Public hospitals and clinics in Thailand are not always up to UK standards, particularly outside Bangkok and in the coastal islands. Many hospitals require guarantee of payment before they will start treatment. Make sure you have adequate travel health insurance and accessible funds to cover the cost of any medical treatment abroad and repatriation

If you need emergency medical assistance during your trip, dial 1669 and ask for an ambulance. You should contact your insurance/medical assistance company promptly if you are referred to a medical facility for treatment.

Medications which are only available on prescription in the UK like Viagra, Cialis and Valium are readily available in popular nightlife districts across Thailand. Medication sold on the street is unlikely to be genuine and may have been stolen. Taking medication without medical advice or a prescription can have serious health consequences. Please bear in mind that UK health authorities have classified Thailand as having a risk of Zika virus transmission.

The Wild Ways of Miami

Posted on September 14, 2016 at 9:13 am

Three quarters of a century after the art deco movement, Miami remains one of the world’s trendiest and flashiest hot spots. Luckily for visitors, South Beach is no longer the only place to stand and pose in Miami. North of downtown, the growing Wynwood and Design districts—along with nearby Midtown—are home to Miami’s hipster and fashionista movements, and the South Beach “scene” continues to extend both north and west, with the addition of new venues north of 20th Street, south of 5th Street, and along the bay on West Avenue.

The reopening of the mammoth Fontainebleau and its enclave of nightclubs and restaurants along Mid-Beach paved the way for a mid-beach renaissance, luring other globally renowned resorts, lounges, and restaurants into the neighborhood, such as the Soho Beach House and the Faena District Miami Beach, a multiblock project in mid-Beach by Argentinian icon and developer Alan Faena, scheduled for a 2017 completion.

Why You Should Backpack in Malaysia

Posted on August 25, 2016 at 3:31 pm

Malaysia is a country of contrasts. On the one hand, many people still live in bamboo houses; on the other hand the downtown of Kuala Lumpur, the capital, can easily compete with Manhattan. Rich Malaysians eat oysters in French restaurants, whereas their poor compatriots have only rice and noodles to feed their families. No matter what part of Malaysia you are going to visit, you meet poverty and luxury, the past and the present, the third and the first worlds mixed together. Malaysia consists of two separate parts, West and East Malaysia, separated by South China Sea. The Western part is more developed, the capital and big cities are situated there. The West part is perfect for seaside vacations, nature trekking and diving.

Time Away to Relax

Posted on May 22, 2016 at 3:16 pm

How do you think about holidays? Where you might go and what you might want to do? Before you know it there is already a thread about it on a forum, or maybe some answers on Yahoo or maybe even a board on Pinterest showing me exactly where I was imagining it, and showing me some of the things that I knew I wanted to do. It’s a combination of all of these things, all of these outlets, that can shed a great light on a location in detail.

There are some amazing resources out there that all can feed into your research for these amazing weekends away. You can find the places you want to go to, the activities you want to do and the things you want to see along the way. You can learn so much before you have even been to the travel agent or set foot on foreign soil. What an age we live in.
