Beware of the spiders in Australia

Posted on January 31, 2015 at 6:29 pm

Many people have a phobia about spiders, but in the UK we are lucky as the common house spiders and ones you may see running about are not usual harmful to us. Spiders can bite and if you get bitten by a spider in the UK it is rare, but you could have a reaction to the bite. Usually this is very easily treated and you will not require urgent medical attention.
If you chose to holiday in Australis you should be aware of the many types of spiders that can cause serious illness if you are bitten and sometimes even prove fatal. One of the common spiders to Australia is the Black Widow spider. These spiders are considered dangerous because of the  neurotoxin latrotoxin, which causes the condition latrodectism that they pass on when you are bitten by one. They tend to lurk in such places as the toilet bowl or letterboxes meaning that you must be very vigilant and make sure that you check places first before sitting or putting your hand in.

The Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site! These types of sites are deemed to be of physical significance (or special cultural significance) by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.
There are just 981 World Heritage Sites across the world (there are 28 in the UK alone) and this is one that you can visit where you’ll also get the opportunity to see a large collection of animal species including the “Big five” with a large population of Lions.
This is the largest unbroken, un-flooded volcanic caldera in the world. It was formed over three million years ago when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed in on itself. It is about 19kms wide and about six-hundred meters deep with a total area of 260 square kilometres which now acts as a natural enclosure for wildlife. It has been labelled as a conservation area, which protects numerous animal species.

Touring China

Posted on April 24, 2014 at 11:14 am

China, being one of the largest countries in the world, has a variety of different subcultures, many of which have their own individual merits. Touring the whole country gives you the great opportunity to experience that diversity.

Your experiences can vary greatly depending upon where you are in China. The different regions have different cultural practices, and different levels of historical importance. The latter translates into a large difference in the architecture of the buildings, with many cultural heritage locations in some areas, and less in others. These are by no means the only differences however, as you can also expect to see different cuisine depending upon where you are. A little known fact about China is that there are three languages native to China, and coupling this with the fact that more than 100 million Koreans live there, means that the diversity that you see there is readily apparent to any visitor.
